Approach to design
For me, interior design is about ensuring the client loves their new spaces, and also that the client gets what they hoped for, but also sees successful solutions they may not have seen to be possible themselves. The most important part of the process is listening to what the client wants, doesn't want and what they hope to achieve. After that it's about communication. Showing visual images and ideas often helps clients to understand the ideas and concepts I am suggesting and makes the process a clear and seamless one. Providing solutions in a clear and easy-to-undertstand way helps the client understand the proposed solutions. Then it would be a process of lots of research to find suitable pieces, colors, textures and elements.
I studied Interior Design and Decoration at Enmore Design Centre. I then set up my own business as a Colour Consultant where I offered colour solutions for residential homes, restaurants and hotels.
I then went travelling, and ended up living in Paris for nine years! In Paris I taught Design at the most prestigious Design university in France (Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs), worked as a freelance interior decorator on residential projects, and also worked as a de-clutter consultant.
I recently arrived back in Sydney and have been doing shop styling, home magazine styling and interior design for clients on residential projects.
