Whether you’re a tourist or resident, my beloved city of Sydney asks only one thing of you: that you live! Naturally, I mean live in the broader sense, meaning you must taste, explore, see, surf and do all that you possibly can when you’re here. Of course as you’re doing all that metaphorical living you’ll still need to do some literal living as well. You know what I mean, the whole place-to-cook-your-meals and rest-your-head and call-it-a-night sort of thing. However, find the right apartment and you can still infuse heaps of liveliness into your literal living situation. Got it? Anyone? Well, assuming you’re not totally confused by now, check out these 10 Incredible Sydney Apartments. Like the fair city itself, each one asks that you live while you’re living.
#1 The Champ
Nothing epitomises stylish domesticity more than a prestigious award. Check out the Darling Point Apartment, winner of the 2016 Australian Interior Design Award. Included in this epic waterfront home is a drool-worthy collection of art and also an elevator that received its own award. This place is so incredible and triumphant it deserves its own trophy case!
#2 The Big View
In a beautiful harbour side city like Sydney, there are waterfront views and then there are waterfront views. This urban loft from Sarah Davison Interior Design most definitely delivers the later. Wake up every morning to some downright epic scenery with a comfortable and classic interior to match.
#3 Bush, Baby
I’m going to cheat a little for this one because it’s too cool not to mention. Located 90 miles outside of Sydney in Bucketty is an Airbnb rental that’s equal parts serene, creative and rustic, and 100% mind-blowing. Going by the name of Walkers Run, this awesome treehouse of massive proportion is woodsy inside and out. It can hold up to 10 people at a time and features things a spit roast and outdoor speakers because it knows how you roll. Just don’t veer too close to those ledges after drinking a few pints with your mates because it’s a long way down.
#4 More or Less
This Darlinghurst apartment is another award-winner that couldn’t be more different than the previous one. Designed by Brad Swartz and measuring in at a mere 27 square metres, this pad gives whole new meaning to the concept of minimalism. The fact that Brad was able to tastefully squeeze an entire home’s worth of features into such a compact space is in and of itself incredible.
#5 The Top Shelf
Designed by Missoni Home, this Sydney Penthouse is overflowing with modern elegance. Every spare detail evokes premium class and design. This is high living in every possible sense of the concept.
#6 All Natural
Refurbished by Bokor Architecture + Interiors in 2012, this Pyrmont apartment is a symphony of modern layouts and natural light. The vibe here is clean, natural and open. Very, very open.
#7 Form and Function
On the outskirts of North Sydney is The Heritage, a pillar of contemporary refinement perched next to the CBD Towers and behind some brick federation houses. Inside are 24 apartments, and in the middle of each one is a huge wooden pod that holds the bathroom, WC, laundry and kitchen. The result is a formidable aesthetic that maintains circulation and flow while serving a higher functional purpose.
#8 Made in Manly
A somewhat dated apartment was given new life by C+M Studio. Situated near the coast in Manly, the main highlight in this welcoming apartment is a curved timber wall with private little sanctuaries tucked behind camouflaged doors. Pair that with an otherwise open floor plan and the use of natural materials, and the apartment offers a duly welcoming vibe while retaining a touch of secrecy.
#9 What a Twist
Here we have an award winner for residential decoration. This inner-city dwelling brings fantasies to life by way of endlessly creative and quirky decors. The intention is to bridge the gap between art installation and domestic abode while putting a clever spin on contemporary design.
#10 The Yacht Life
You can live like a millionaire one day at a time thanks to this Airbnb rental, which gives you your own private yacht at a pretty affordable rate (all things considered). It doesn’t get much more incredible than that!
