Choosing Artwork

Helping Caroline choose art for her living room
Choosing Artwork

Don’t we all have a bare wall somewhere in our homes that we’ve been meaning to find something gorgeous to hang on, but haven’t seemed to yet…? Maybe you have no idea where to even start / can’t find something that ‘goes’ with the rest of your room / or maybe you have found heaps of pieces but they’re all in like crazy price range land. Well we’re here to help! A beautiful piece of art can set the tone of a room instantly, making your space your happy place to come home to each day.

Caroline came to us on our eDecorating platform to ask for some help with art. She wanted a big piece to hang above her beautiful dusty pink couch in her bright, spacious living room. You can find below her question and our answer, as well as links to the artworks we sourced for her!

“We have a large space behind the couch and want one large piece of art. Where can you find affordable pieces that would suit our look?” – Caroline (Woollahra, Sydney)

Hi Caroline, thanks for your question!

We would love to help you find a great piece of art, at the right price point, for your lovely space. We love how the strong lines of your coffee table complement the geometric arms of your sofa. We noticed that in your profile, you’ve put your preferred design styles as Coastal, Scandi and Art Deco. We can see that the layout and light fixture of your space is quite Art Deco. Lovely! Ok so we have provided a few options here. Let us know what you think!

If you’re game, it would be great to incorporate some colour and shape as a contrast to what is already working in your space. By far the most cost savvy way to source art would be to buy the print / work separate from the frame (saves on shipping too). Therefore all of the options we have provided here (#1 – 4) do not include the frame but are all under A$500. We have also included two additional options for you that test the brief a little, 5) a Dina Broadhurst print that is a slightly high price point ($2,800) and 6) an idea we have for you just in case you were open to other ideas beyond one central art image – an image of a picture ledge; cost effective to install and a great way to change up the look of your space, easily and often.

Let’s see which direction you’d like to go in, and take it from there!

Have a great evening,

Milray Park Design Team
